Forensic pathology expertise

Forensic expertise uses XRFA as a part of complex study of an object because it is nondestructive, high sensitive, objective method with wide range of determined elements.

Significant number of studies is referred to sharp trauma. XRFA provides not only metal traces detection, but also recognizes the alloys of the weapon, sequence of hurts, position of blade, additional layers of barriers and so on

If it is a shot wound XRFA helps to determine the shot distance, identify micro particles in the wound channels, to solve context problems, determine the bullet type, soot composition.

In automobile or similar injuries XRFA  detects elemental composition of micro particles and metal traces in the trauma zones, identifies the trauma instrument by element composition of the remained traces on the surface

XRFA helps to determine the type of the wire at electric damage (steel or nonferrous alloy, insulation presence), the origin of electricity (technical or lightning).

While silicon cremated remains analysis it is possible to determine the conditions of burning, to find presence of bone material in ash, type of the cremated bones, the region of origin (long living), and so on.

XRFA helps to diagnose poisoning with metal poison, pathological state at an early stage, and to solve some other problems.

The procedure of analysis is usually as following:
The object without any sample preparation is delivered to a laboratory. First the measurements for undisturbed part of the object are fulfilled, then the damaged part. The obtained spectra for both cases are compared. The element concentration is strictly connected with the element line intensity, so the difference between the same element line intensity in the blank object and damaged one gives data for estimation of the quantity of trace element in the damaged zone.
