Pb, Zn, Cu, Ni, Co, Fe, Mn, Cr determination in ventilation pollutions.

The test method specifies determination of metal mass content in ventilation pollution by XRFA. The test method can be applied for gases in gas conduit.

Gas sampling is made with aspiration of a prescribed volume of sample through filters, which collect solid particles.
If the expected metal concentration is below 5 mg/m3 the duration of sampling is 20 minutes, if the expected metal concentration is from 5 to 50 mg/m3 sampling duration is 5 minutes. In the latter case the sampling is made twice, the results of two filters analysis is averaged.
The sample filter is fixed in the filter holder. If the filter is large then it is cut in parts in transverse directions and the parts are analyzed separately. The filter holder is placed in a spectrometer and analysis is run automatically according to the chosen program.
The filter shall be measured in 4 transverse positions. Arithmetic average of the four measurement results after subtraction of the blank sample is taken as the final result for each element. Blank sample is the result of 3-5 measurements of the clean filters of the same lot of filters used for sampling.
