The sample preparation and standards preparation for calibration includes their finishing with a lathe and further cleaning with alcohol. The roughness of the surface shall be better than 50 micron, has no cracks, porous or cavities, no slag or nonmetal inclusions.
The sample for analysis is made as a 40 mm diameter disk up to 20 mm thick with flat surface. The surface roughness is to be better than 50 mm.
If there is not enough sample material, the disk can be made 20 mm diameter 10 mm thick, or as a sample with one flat surface, which is within the specified above dimensions.
No further sample preparation is required. The sample is placed into a sample cartridge and then into spectrometer. Analysis is fulfilled automatically with a chosen program.
The test method specifies determination of Al (Aluminum)  in the concentration range from the difference between two test results obtained by the same operator with the same apparatus under constant operating conditions on identical test material would, in the long run, in the normal and correct operation of the test method, shall not exceed

Reproducibility
The difference between two single and independent test results obtained by different operators working in different laboratories on identical test material would, in a long run , in normal and correct operation of the test method, shall not exceed 0.20%
