Cu, Fe, Ni, Cr, Mn and Zr determination in suspended in technological water media of Nuclear Power Plants

Cu, Fe, Ni, Cr, Mn and Zr determination in suspended in technological water media of Nuclear Power Plants

The test method specifies mass content determination of Cu (Copper), Fe (Iron), Ni (Nickel), Cr (Chromium), Mn (Manganese) and Zr (Zirconium) suspended (either colloid or coarse suspensions) in technological water media of Nuclear Power Plants by X-Ray fluorescence method with "SPECTROSCAN MAKC" spectrometer.

Mass content determination of Cu (Copper), Fe (Iron), Ni (Nickel), Cr (Chromium), Mn (Manganese) and Zr (Zirconium) suspended (either colloid or coarse suspensions) in  water is based on the elements selection with acetate cellulose filters with further element concentration determination with XRFA.
The order and conditions of sampling should provide correspondence to chemical composition of the media. Total sample activity shall be within 3,7•107 Becquerel (1•10-3 Curie).
Metal mass content determination is fulfilled for two concurrent specimens. The sample material is filtered through filter, then the filter is dried at ambient conditions, fixed in a cartridge and analyzed in spectrometer. Analysis is run automatically with preliminary chosen program.
One or several elements concentration can be determined dependent on the analysis purpose.
Mass content determination specified with the test method is from 0.005 up to 0.090 mg/dm3 for Co (Copper), Fe (Iron), Ni (Nickel), Mn (Manganese), Cr (Chromium) and Zr (Zirconium). The sample volume required for lower limit determination is about 1 dm3. If the concentrations are higher the required volume is reduced to 100 cm3.
